Learn more about my collaboration with Eucerin Sun

In this blogpost, I would like to explain a little bit more about my cooperation with Eucerin Sun: Already in summer 2018, the german skin care company Beiersdorf from Hamburg and the german pilot union 'Vereinigung Cockpit' launched a campaign to raise awareness for sun protection for pilots. Together with the technical university Munich, both started a study in order to gain important information on how dangerous flying is for your skin and especially the skin of pilots. It is not a secret to say that flying comes along with many risk factors for your health: The air is very dry, in cruise altitude your body is in an atmosphere equivalent to 2500 m above sea level and the radiation values are also much higher compared to life on the ground. Pilots are exposed to these conditions quite frequently but also huge amounts of sun light entering through the cockpit windows. Therefore, pilots are considered to belong to a group where the likelihood to suffer from skin cancer is approximately doubled in comparison to people working in an office building for example. Even though the cockpit windows are designed to filter some of the ultraviolet light, some of it still can pass these and may cause skin damages and accelerate skin aging. On top of that, it is not only UV light but also so-called HEV light to damage your skin. HEV stands for High Energy Visible and attacks the socalled dermis of your skin leading to the development of free radicals that can destroy cell structores and cause oxidative stress. This leads to wrinkles and faster skin aging. Knowing all that, everyone should try to protect his biggest organ: your skin! Use sun protection products in your daily life, no matter if you simply relax outside or if you also work in a very sun exposed place. Of course, my cooperation with Eucerin Sun is advertisement. Nevertheless, in my opinion, it is a very important topic to raise awareness for as I think that everyone of us wants to look great and stays healthy as long as possible and therefore, we should protect and care for our skin as good as we possibly can.
